Portable Oxygen Bottle
DSW specializes in manufacturing high-quality medical oxygen cylinders tailored to meet diverse healthcare needs.
A portable oxygen bottle is a small, lightweight container designed to store and provide supplemental oxygen to individuals who require it for medical reasons.
DSW oxygen bottles are available in a wide range of sizes and capacities, with plenty of customisation options. Each of these cylinder varieties has a different pressure.
Applications
- Medical Use
- Ideal for patients with COPD, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, or other respiratory conditions requiring supplemental oxygen.
- Perfect for home, travel, or hospital environments where portability is critical.
- Industrial Use
- Suited for specific gases like Argon or Helium in laboratory and industrial settings.
The construction of a portable oxygen bottle
Material: Portable oxygen bottles are often made from aluminum because they are lightweight and durable.
The starting material is usually a single sheet of aluminum, such as 6061 aluminum, which is then formed into a cylinder shape.
Formation of the Cylinder: The aluminum sheet is formed into a cylinder shape, and the ends are sealed.
The cylinder is then heat-treated through solution heat treatment and artificial ageing to enhance its strength and durability.
Neck Configuration: The top of the cylinder, known as the neck, is configured with threads, an o-ring gland, and a top surface that serves as a sealing surface.
These are machined into the cylinder to ensure a tight seal and prevent oxygen leakage.
Valves and Regulators: A valve is attached to the cylinder to control the release of oxygen.
A regulator may also be attached to adjust the oxygen flow rate to the user’s requirements.
Some portable oxygen bottles may include an Oxygen Conserving Device (OCD) that regulates flow during inspiration only, conserving oxygen during exhalation and allowing the cylinder to last longer.
Safety Features: Portable oxygen bottles are equipped with safety features such as pressure gauges to monitor the amount of oxygen left in the cylinder and safety relief valves to prevent excessive pressure buildup.
Accessories: Additional accessories may include a carrying handle or strap for easy transport and a nasal cannula or mask for delivering oxygen to the user.
